The Oli-eli Studio (four syllables to pronounce with a french accent "o-li-eu-li") is a multi-skilled and creative photography studio  based on a Paris area. It's came from the mind of Olivier Koestel, a foodie enthusiast and object addict growing up in the Food universe for 8 years by now and always passionate about photography and design but also pastry and cuisine for sure.

« Whether it is product photography, cuisine, pastry or my pragmatic approach of food design, all of them find for sure an echo with a sensibility or a new envy of the moment. »

The Olivier's research works in the Food and Still Life universes are double sided as well as spread itself in a multi-disciplinary approach.

Double sided because of photographic fields involved, with a framing very into the food or object, putting lights with striking minimalistic stylism and characterized by pop colors but also coloring with poetic atmosphere.

In a natural way, he creates unique universes which become one of the threads of this website.

In the other side, Food more specifically, by creating a modern cuisine and pastry, it means sugar and fat reduced, aesthetic and often reflected by a combination of different culture...

Based on pleasure notion and final experience, when he puts an apron on him, Oko often plays with humble ingredients, like fruits and vegetables direct from local farm or uses atypic ones like fermented rose honey, enoki pickles and porcelana chocolate.

The main intention is to sublimate ingredients, being full of sense and generate emotions.

« ...Even though a classical and traditional dish like pasta for exemple, could generate a lot of good sensations! »

Why multi-skilled? In turn chef, designer, set designer, photographer, photography editor and Art director, his agility and his versatility are strenghts that enriching his own vision of the photography...inaltered playground.

Did you say creative? Inspired by Food design and its global approach, the Founder of the studio applies this methodology to every facet of his clients projects, with the goal of being more creative, relevant and effective.

Second passion but not least, tea.

« Sometimes sip in solo, or in a sharing moment, but always generating good feelings, each infusion helps me to become more concentrate and peaceful just like helps me to travel without any moves. »

By the way, he loves so much tea that he had put efforts on Food design researches based on recycling (second life) infused tea leaves in the frame of teashop with a variety of finger pastries.

So, Olivier used to cook and bake with tea then associates with other projects this subtil thousand faces element.

Yes, but tea as well...

...And finally the coffee!

Last passion: the coffee.

« I discovered the world of specialty coffee a few years ago, following personal research on drinks and thanks to my slightly "geeky" side, I was immediately hooked and deepened the question! »

As with tea, he also uses coffee in his cooking but especially in pastry and ice cream, because when it's made cold brewed, it allows a great aromatic complexity.

Forms, textures and macro...

Plus, his recent researches come to life through random, organic, irregular forms. According to him, this type of forms lead to more infinite beauty than the geometric and classic purpose. Born with the encounter of Olivier and the posture encompassed by the concept of Wabi-Sabi in Zen philosophy.

In the side of composition, this minimalist set designer loves carefully choose the right element ready to add new vibrance for usual, salty or sugary object's storytelling.

Finally, his acquaintance for macrophotography comes from his love towards textures, sometimes raw, sometimes equivocal, emphasize support and always self-sufficient.

« Have a good dive into my universe! »
